Mission Statement

 It is the intended and stated goal of all  parties associated with Sadie Waterford Manor to:

 Provide a safe and nurturing environment for female adolescents and young women

To assist in the transition process to womanhood

To afford them an opportunity to develop and learn interpersonal skills which will engage them to make a positive contribution to society in general and to enhance and enrich their own lives specifically.

¡°Lifeline Celebration Awards Dinner 2006¡±

    Dr. Carl C. Bell, President and CEO of Community Mental Health Council take time to enjoy his Parisian cigar with Jean Rogers SWM Clinical Administrator during the break.

Dr. Bell continues to be a pioneer in working with physical and mental health to restore wellness. He is truly a legend in his own time, and Sadie Waterford Manor applauds his ongoing efforts to better the human sprit and body.

Reverend Dr. Michael Louis Pfleger is the Pastor of St. Sabina Catholic Church in Chicago, and is currently on the Board of Directors of Community Mental Health Council. Here he enjoys conversation during the Lifeline Awards ceremony with Clinical Administrator Jean Rogers and Executive Director Les Harris.

Father Pfleger received the ¡°Sword of Life Saving¡± award during this ceremony.

Ms. Juanita Redd, Senior Vice President of Community Mental Health Council takes time from her busy duties to share program information with her guests.

Dr. Margaret T.G. Burroughs, Artist/Educator/and Institution Builder was honored at the ¡±Celebration Awards Dinner¡± (Ms. Juanita Redd, Senior Vice-President with a guest)

Dr. Margaret Burroughs is legendary in the Chicago Land area!! In 1961 Dr. Burroughs and her husband, Charles Burroughs, founded the Du Sable Museum of African-American History. Previously, she had also founded the South Side Community Arts Center. Dr. Burroughs says that the purpose of life should be to help somebody, and to serve humanity. She believes that one ought to leave a legacy to helping someone else.

Sadie Waterford Manor/Halfway House Committee, Inc. was proud to have the opportunity to be part of this inspiring ¡°Celebration Awards Dinner Celebration. The dinner is designed to showcase the efforts of those who have enriched and made a difference in the lives of persons in the various communities.  

Mrs. Sadie Waterford Jones was the Founder of Sadie Waterford Manor/Halfway House Committee, Inc.
