Comprehensive Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Services

 A.      Delivery of therapeutic services shall include a multidimensional approach.  Such an approach shall provide each female with individual psychotherapy which is supportive and insight oriented.  Insight oriented and/or cognitive therapy shall be appropriated in a manner consistent with the resident’s level of intellectual functioning.  Behavior modification shall be provided so as to permit the female to understand and appreciate appropriate consequences for appropriate and/or inappropriate behavior.  Behavior modification must reflect the resident’s capacity to understand and internalize age appropriate and socially appropriate behaviors and activities.  Structured group and individual therapy are provided on a weekly basis.  All other aforementioned therapeutic services shall be provided under the direction of the Clinical Administrator.  The Clinical Administrator shall maintain quarterly progress reports of each resident in treatment.  Such progress reports shall include statements of progress and/or difficulties, therapeutic measure which have been appropriated for correction or remediation and appropriate recommendations.

B.       Within reason, community resources shall be made available and easily accessible to the residents of Sadie Waterford Manor for supervised educational and recreational activities as well as social enrichment.  Such resources may include the YMCA, YWCA related school activities, and nearby township/village recreational programs.

C.      As appropriate activities shall be considered.   These may include but are not limited to:

          a)       Picnic outings during the summer
          b)
       Planned trips
         
          c)
       Recreational activities which include hobbies, athletic teams, short term task-oriented group.
          d)       Youth rallies

D.      The Ansel Casey daily, living skills shall be provided for all residents regardless of level of functioning, status of residency, or future placement.  Some of the skills are as follows:  consumer education, drug education, sex education, gang prevention, cooking, house keeping, budgeting, transportation safety, shopping, etc.  Living skills shall be incorporated into the resident’s therapeutic plan as appropriate.  Also, as appropriate, vocational assessment/counseling/placement services shall be provided as well as career planning.  For those who intend, pursuant to successful completion of high school, to enroll in an under-graduate institution, the agency shall provide whatever appropriate assistance shall be necessary as it regards college selection, field of concentrations, and application/admission process.

 Treatment Goals and Time Frames

 A.      Sadie Waterford Manor shall maintain the primary objective and responsibility of providing a consistent, nurturing environment from which each resident may  benefit.  In addition, the agency is responsible for maintaining or upgrading the continuity of all therapeutic services which shall be delivered in a professional, humanistic, and conscientious manner by all staff members who are employed by the Halfway House Committee, Inc. Continuity of therapeutic services is designed to assist each resident to internalize and appropriate acceptable social values and behaviors which are required for are required for a successful and fulfilling lifestyle not only during the resident’s therapeutic program, but pursuant to either transfer or successful completion of said program.

B.      Specific to the individual needs and relevant to the resources available to accommodate such needs, pursuant to approval or DCFS, additional therapeutic services shall be provided for the following reasons:

          a)       Reunification of the family structure
          b)       Foster care
          c)       Adoption
          d)
       Semi-independent or independent living arrangements

Sadie Waterford Manor in concert with the Department of Children and Family Services shall monitor services and shall make appropriate revisions as necessary.  Additional treatment objectives shall be designed to assist the girl in developing and cultivating appropriate impulse controls, completing therapeutic and educational services components for her treatment program, develop and cultivate social interactions skills in a nature and productive manner on a daily basis with peers and adults, and re-establish, as appropriate, inter personal relationships in the primary family structure.

C.      Length of stay will be individually determined by DCFS.  The length of stay may be hours, days, months, or years.  All residents are on a case by case basis.

 D.     Outcome goals

1.       Sadie Waterford Manor shall maintain a minimum of eighty-five percent of all residents in a formal academic or vocational program.  Other specialized training programs shall be provided for the remaining fifteen percent of the population.

2.       Sadie Waterford Manor will accept one hundred percent of all referrals.

3.       Sadie Waterford Manor will complete all initial paperwork within fourteen days.

 

Educational and Vocational Services

 A.     Sadie Waterford Manor assumes the responsibility of providing each resident with the appropriate academic institutions for educational training.  For those attending the elementary grades, six through eight, the Thomas J. Kellar Grammar School will be attended and residents requiring a high school education shall attend Alan B. Shephard High School.  For those residents whose behavioral disorders do not permit them the benefits of regular education or special education assignments, District 218 and District 143 ½ provides appropriate educational and related therapeutic services.

B.     For those residents who require related supportive services to include transportation, Sadie Waterford Manor shall take responsibility in initiating and when appropriate, monitoring the delivery of such services.

 C.     Sadie Waterford manor has enjoyed a very close productive relationship with the Special Education Department of the local school districts.  This facility strives to maintain a higher caliber of commitment and correspondence with school psychologists, school social workers, remedial educators, and supportive pupil resource personnel so as to effectuate the highest possible standards of educational enrichment which various Special Education departments have so generously supplied.

 D.     Residents who are unable initially to attend school for whatever reason, shall be provided educational material until such time that they are admitted into an educational institution and pursue daily attendance of classes.

 E.     Sadie Waterford Manor is pleased to have the Police Department of Crestwood and Robbins, Illinois continually working in concert with this facility.
